Food Parcels

MEMBERS OF OUR CONGREGATION COME FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE.
We have many individuals that are facing serious economic challenges, and are faced with the reality of going to bed hungry when there is no food to put on the table. In order to help those individuals who are facing these sorts of challenges, we give out food parcels to women who are part of our church and who are living in poverty with their children. As is the case elsewhere in the world, women and children are two of the most vulnerable groups in Cape Town. Some of our recipients are refugees from other African countries, while others are trying to get off the streets, or are just battling to make ends meet.
Referrals for food parcels are through the Pastoral Care team, who invest a great deal of time talking and praying with each of the women. Community Care volunteers shop for the food parcels and also use the food donated by individuals in the church. Church volunteers and members of Connect Groups who are in need are also referred to Pastoral Care for food parcels.
